History and Vision
My wife and I formed KxK Consulting, LLC to service content needs across two key, high-demand markets that we’ve identified as coinciding with our particular areas of interest & expertise: pharmaceutical advertising and college admissions consulting. Then a new vision emerged for The Writer’s Gym, a brick-and-mortar space that not only provides physical offices for KxK, but can potentially leverage the power of community in a spirit of service, while providing free, on-the-job training & generating freelance and arts education opportunities for its lovely, lovely members.
The Writer’s Gym—an idea
born in fiction & birthed in fact*
Operating as a shared, co-working space for writers of all stripes & fitness levels to collaboratively work out their craft and grow their careers while enriching the wider Gowanus community, our mission here at The Writer’s Gym is to nurture a collective of service-minded writers who are provided practical support in establishing viable careers in freelancing & arts education.
We create value for our members in hopes to see them pay it forward to the community that has gifted us our home away from home.
We’d also like to keep it quiet & peaceful around here. Though calling it a sanctuary may be overselling it, feel free to call it that yourselves. The space fosters a sense of “silent camaraderie” and comes equipped with the built-in support system of other gym rats/enthusiasts always hanging around the place.
Our affordable, value-packed memberships start at $250/month** and grants access to an impressive catalog of innovative classes & inspiring events sure to get your sentences in shape.
*(The initial capitalization of $60K also helped, obviously.)
**Though the 19th-century French writer Honoré de Balzac reportedly drank up to 50 cups of coffee a day, for most writers residing in 21st-century Brooklyn, $250 is likely a more reasonable monthly budget for coffee, which is always complimentary at The Writer’s Gym, you guys!
